CONGRATULATIONS glc GRADUATES!
Each year, the Alice Paul Institute hosts a graduation celebration for the high school seniors who have participated in our Girls Leadership Council (GLC). The event acknowledges their growth over the course of their high school career and time in GLC and, we hope, reminds them that they will always be a part of the API community.
At this year’s outdoor event, we bestowed purple and gold graduation cords on the seniors and wished them well as they move into the next chapter of their bright futures. Below is information about their tenure in GLC and where they are headed. Congratulations GLC graduates!
Sheridan Leak was in GLC for 3 years, graduated from Burlington Township High School, and will be attending St. Joseph’s University. She is a recipient of the prestigious John P. McNulty Scholarship for women in STEM. When she told us about receiving the scholarship she said, “I absolutely think that all of the networking and mentoring events at the meetings developed my interviewing skills. GLC taught me how to be both professional and personable at the same time, and I think that is what shined in my interview to make me a standout. So, I truly believe that GLC absolutely helped me get into this program and for that, I am forever grateful for you all and your influence. Thank you so so much!”
Mary Castellani was in GLC for 4 years, graduated from Burlington Township High School, and will be attending Rutgers New Brunswick in the fall.

About the Girls Leadership Council
Alice Paul Institute’s Girls Leadership Council (GLC) meets monthly between September and June to discuss issues of gender equity and social justice. We offer a unique curriculum that engages female-identifying teens on topics affecting women and girls in the United States and around the world. GLC members leave meetings equipped to have meaningful conversations about human rights, intersectionality, privilege, and much more.
