Alice Paul Institute (API) is saddened to learn of the sudden passing of New Jersey Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver. Lt. Gov. Oliver was a great friend to API and a champion of women’s rights in New Jersey and the country. She will be remembered fondly by API for generously giving her time to our various leadership development and civic engagement programs. API had the privilege of working with her on our 2021 program “Trailblazers: African American Women in New Jersey Government,” where she discussed her experiences as a trailblazing African American woman in the legal and political realm. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and the State of New Jersey at this difficult time.
