Join us for our annual Women’s Equality Day Festival on August 24th from 12 PM – 3 PM.
The family-friendly festival will feature craft vendors, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, lawn games, activities, and more. Alice Paul Institute recognizes an inclusive understanding of the word “woman.” This event highlights women-owned businesses, but we welcome the participation of everyone.
At Alice Paul Institute, Women’s Equality Day is dedicated not only to women’s success and solidarity, but also to acknowledging the long road ahead that leads to true gender equality for all. While this day is the anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment, that law did not guarantee all women the right to vote. Most women of color obtained their franchise with the Voting Rights Act of 1965, after nearly half a century more of struggle. We handle the education of suffrage history with care, making a point to tell it in fullness to our beloved community.
